Day 21

"God's Place"

Exodus 35:4-10, 25

Our church rented for 15 years
until 2016, when we became
owners of our own church property!
There was a large church building
and the house next to it.
We built on and connected the house
to the church building, with the addition
giving us storage and a much-needed kitchen.
We totally remodeled the building inside
and did some work outside, too.

The challenge was to be good stewards of God's
money, yet provide a place of worship, discipleship,
and fellowship that would be a good testimony for God.
We gave money and lots of labor!
I believe we accomplished a good balance - not
extravagant or showy, but certainly very nice.
We have had so many compliments on
the looks that affirmed that opinion!

We have made it very practical and useful as well.
God blessed and it is all paid for!
No, God doesn't dwell in the building -
He dwells in heaven and in the hearts of believers.
But we can truly benefit from the facilities
and use them for building His kingdom.
He deserves our best as we build, whether
we work on the building or His kingdom!

Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for the
building You have provided for us.
Thank You for involving us in the process.
Give us wisdom to always use it
to bring honor and glory to You
as we build the kingdom together.

P.S. Most people have a healthy understanding
of the “church house” belonging to
God and try to take good care of it.
We want it to look good, last
a long time, and be very functional as well.
We certainly would never do anything
to harm it! But consider this:

1 Cor. 3:16-17 says “Don’t you know that
you are God’s temple and
the Spirit of God dwells in you?
If anyone destroys God’s temple, God
will destroy him; for God’s temple
is holy and you are that temple.”
Do we treat our bodies and minds as
well as we treat our church buildings?!
